It's actually crazy how far technology has come on in the past two decades. We're now at the point where a one-person show can create, market, promote and sell products which can have a presence across the world. It's easy to acquire skills, so that you're able to cover so many different bases, but it's a different story being an expert in a certain field.
One aspect of content and marketing which tends to lack from these DIY brands is video content. Although they are able to make the off little thing here and there, they are quite likely to avoid video creation due to the time and/or budget investment required to achieve it successfully.
It's time that you think differently about it and put your money behind hiring agencies, creatives and specialists capable of showing your products in the best light.
Here's why:
1. Brand Storytelling
Stories sell. Remember this. It's all well and good showing the benefits an features of your products, but it's the stories that make people interested in what your brand does. Invest in a video production company that has the experience in actually telling the stories that sell. More often that not, they will do this through video.
2. Increase Engagement
Your customers are most likely busy people. They don't have the time to engage in masses of content, no matter how interesting they may find it. Videos are often able to condense a lot of information into a more digestible format for your customers to consume, without feeling as though they are wasting their time.
3. Stand Out from Competition
It's quite likely that your competitors are not investing in video content. By simply producing and releasing videos, you will be able to stand out and seem like you have a lot more going on for your brand. It's all about perception, after all. Just a handful of videos will make a massive, lasting impact on how the public views your brand.
4. Unlock New Ideas
There are only so many things that you are able to achieve if you focus on creating content which you, personally, are able to make with your current skill set. For example, writers may think that they can compose great social and blog content, but it leaves out masses of people that only use YouTube to find out more about their favourite brands.
There are creatives and agencies that specialise in all kinds of other formats and are able to formulate completely different ways of expressing ideas that reflects your brand's values and the culture it is a part of.
5. Speak to Customers How They Want to Spoken To
Written content has its place, but it shouldn't be the only way that you try to communicate to your audience, as it probably isn't the only way that they want to be spoken to. The easiest way to get your audience to engage with you is to go to the places where they are and communicate that they want to engage with in the way.
