Being an online entrepreneur is seriously the best. People who work a 9-5 job seriously don’t know what they’re missing. Many of them think we’re mad giving up the security of regular work and the companionship of colleagues to work all alone at the computer all day, but they don’t know what we do – how could they?

If you’re one of those 9-5 workers, happy to slave away for a boss each day, let me let you in on the enormous reasons why most online entrepreneurs would never go back to working for someone else…

Every Day is a Pyjama Day

If you're so inclined, when you work from home, you don’t have to put on a suit and tie, heck you don’t have to put proper clothes on at all. You can work perfectly comfortably in your pyjamas without even bothering to run a brush through your hair or if you’re a woman, put your makeup on, and no one will ever know!

 

There’s Little Risk

When you start out as an online entrepreneur, you can do so with little, even no, cash, which means that it is a really low-risk venture, especially if you keep the day job until things pick up.

 

You Can Work from Anywhere

When your work is online-based, you can be working from your home in the suburbs one day, a penthouse in Singapore the next and a from a beach in Thailand the next day. You aren’t tied down to any one particular location, which means you can see more of the world and travel on a whim. You can’t do that with your average office job, that’s for sure.

It’s Always Interesting

Because it’s your business, you can spend most of your time doing things you want, focusing on aspects of the market you are interested in, which helps to ensure that your work is never dull. Of course, being an entrepreneur can be a wild ride in its own right, so just trying to build up a business and continue to make money online can stop things from getting dull. This is in stark contrast to the average job where you will be tasked with doing basically the same handful of tasks all day every day.

 

Your Work is Yours to Own

When you’re employed by someone else, all of the hard work you do might result in a nice paycheck at the end of the month, but the vast majority of the value you have created will be pocketed by your bosses and the company shareholders. When you’re an online entrepreneur, at least the money you make is your own – you are building up assets for your future and not somebody else’s.

 

You Never Stop Learning

One of the things that can make the normal 9-5 life pretty dull is the fact that once you’ve trained for a role, apart from a little updating now and again, you pretty much stop learning anything new in your job. That isn’t the case when you become an online entrepreneur; every day you have to learn something new; coding, bookkeeping, marketing, how to find antiques that will sell on eBay – you're constantly mastering new skills, which helps to beat the boredom and ensures that you are a more rounded, more marketable person to boot.

 

You Can Do What You Were Always Meant to Do

If you take the leap and decide to become an online entrepreneur, then you can focus on doing whatever it is that you really want to do with your life. If you don’t know exactly what that is, experimenting with all of the various ways you can make money on the internet today will help you to find out, and then, as they say, you’ll never have to work a day in your life again.

 

It’s Invigorating

Getting up every the morning, not knowing what the working day will bring you, whether your gambles will have paid off or if your traffic spiked after you posted that great article last night is completely invigorating, as is knowing that your financial future is in your own hands and no one else's.

 

You Can Set Your Own Schedule

A huge benefit of being an online entrepreneur is that you can usually set your own schedule, which means that if you’re a night owl, you can stay up all night without having to worry about the lack of sleep the next day – just set the alarm for midday – or if you like to exercise, but the gym is always packed in the evenings when you’re free, you can award yourself a two-hour break in the middle of the day to get your sweat on! Online entrepreneurship is freedom!

 

Make Money While You Sleep

The ultimate goal of many online entrepreneurs is to come up with a business that requires very little maintenance, something that generates passive income, so that they can make money even when they’re sleeping, laying on the beach sipping cocktails or spending quality time with the family. This is something that is achievable with a lot of hard work in the early years and a fantastic reason to consider online entrepreneurship whoever you are.

 

You Can Eat In

I’m sure this won’t be an advantage for all of you, but those of you who love eating homemade food over shop bought sandwiches, and convenience foods will find that working from home makes eating more of the lovely fresh food you enjoy simple. Because you’re at home and you’re not on a tight schedule, you have a lot more time to cook, and it can do wonders for your health. Of course. It also gives you more freedom to snack, so you have to be careful about that!

 

There’s Plenty of Room for Growth

The internet is vast – it’s hard to imagine just how vast it is, which means there is still plenty of room for growth. If you find your niche or niches online, and you work hard to make yourself and your business as attractive to customers and clients as possible, the sky really is the limit.

 

You Don’t Have to Limit Yourself

When you’re an online entrepreneur, you can set up one specific business, say selling children’s clothing or offering your services as a content writer, but you don’t have to and in fact, creating as many income streams as possible is probably a better ways to go about making money via the internet. That means that you don’t have to put yourself in a box and limit yourself to doing one thing forever, you can always change things up and still put food on the table.

 

The Internet is the Future

Setting yourself up as an online entrepreneur and cementing your presence on the world wide web now is only sensible. Why? The internet is the future. Companies are increasingly going to take their operations online as time moves on and those of us who are already wello0versed in its language are likely to do much better and be in more demand than those who are not.

 

Employers Have Too Much Control

Right now, it’s fair to say that it’s an employer's market. There are more people looking for jobs than there are jobs to be had, which means that many employers are starting to exploit workers by demanding they do unpaid overtime or offering them unsuitable zero hours contracts. At least if you’re self-employed, even when times are hard, you aren’t being exploited to boot!

 

You Can Be Creative

It’s often difficult to find a job in the creative industries, particularly if you don’t have the right qualifications behind you, but on the internet, you are free to experiment with and express your creativity in any way you want, and you know what? It’s surprising how many people are willing to pay for your work. Whether you’re writing ebooks for Amazon or creating crochet bears for Etsy, you can get creative and make money. You don’t need an employer to deem you worthy!

 

You Can Afford to Be (a Little) Lazy

Of course, the biggest benefit of working online is that, once you have things set up, you can afford to be lazy, sometimes at least; more often than you would be able to with a regular 9-5 job anyway. Of course, you do need to work hard too, but there is a better balance between work and life to be had when you take things into your own hands. This is not only because you can earn passive  income and choose your own working hours, but also because there are lots of apps and tools that you can use to automate tasks and boost your efficiency even more.

 

As you can see, there are lots of amazing reasons to become an entrepreneur, but if they’ve swayed you, it’s worth remembering that, in order to succeed online, you need to be motivated, capable and willing to take risks. It isn’t all three-hour lunches and passive income – that comes after the hard work.
