The world changes. Every day, it grows and develops. New products come to market. New ideas come to light. New research means that old ideas go out of fashion. Everything around us is changing all of the time. These changes come even faster as technology develops and advances. Shopping is no different.
Of course, buying a car has never been the same as popping to the shops for a pint of milk. It’s a considerable expense that requires careful thought and consideration. Only the very well off have ever been able to just go out and buy a car. But, that doesn’t mean that the process hasn’t been able to grow and evolve. Buying a car today isn’t the same as it was for previous generations. Here’s a look at some of the changes.
Options
Shoppers today want options, whatever they are buying, and cars are no different. When we’re spending a lot of money, we expect to be able to customise our purchases fully, and a few different options when it comes to colour is no longer enough. We want to be able to customise the interior and fill our cars with gadgets and gizmos. Then, of course, there’s the addition of hybrid and electric to the old options of petrol and diesel.
Finance
The style, colour and added extras aren’t the only things that we want to be able to choose. Money is more important than ever. Saving and buying a car has always been the traditional way to make this important purchase, but it’s no longer the only way. Many families are taking out the best online auto loans to finance their purchases.
Leasing a car is also becoming an increasingly popular option. Years ago, if you couldn’t afford a new car, you bought second hand. Today, you have to option to pay a monthly fee to use the car for a set period. At the end of this period, you can either return the car or pay a set fee to make it yours. Some lease fees also include maintenance and insurance, giving the buyer even more options.
Research
Studies show that the average car buyer now visits just 1.6 dealerships before making a purchase. Years ago, the same buyers would have visited multiple dealerships, to get all of the information that they needed to make the right choice. They’d have test driven many makes and models and asked staff plenty of questions about the cars that they were interested in.
Nowadays, there’s no need. Potential buyers research different cars online. They learn all about them, they watch videos on YouTube, and they read reviews from other owners. They can even compare the different cars point by point. Car buyers today are experts before they even get to the showroom.
Online Shopping
The growth of online shopping has changed how we shop generally. Some people, choose to buy a car online and only visit a dealership to collect it. But, even those that shop in store, expect the same easy shopping experience that they get online.
