2020 has been a year like no other – and not necessarily in a positive way. The coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic has dominated most of our year, seeing the vast majority of us having to make major changes to the way that we live in a bid to slow the spread of the virus and save as many lives as possible. One area that many people have been impacted in is their finances. Even those of us who had entirely stable and comfortable jobs at the start of the year may have been rocked a little. Unemployment is spiking as companies are unable to function or generate sufficient profits during lockdowns and while complying with government implemented social distancing guidelines during the periods that they are able to open their doors. Company collapses, redundancies, reduced working hours and reduced salaries are commonplace. If you’re looking for ways to make money throughout this chaos, you’re not alone. There are plenty of people in the same boat as you. One area where you could claw back some cash is making wise investments while you have money available to do so. Here are a few areas that you might want to consider to help yourself get by.

Personal Investments

One area you might want to start invested in is personal investments. These are investments in which you will own the asset you invest in and can profit from it. One great example is investing in a park home. People are unable to holiday overseas right now, so are often looking for ways to get away from their day to day life without straying too far from home. Park homes can be let out to people looking for a simple staycation, generating you a profit. If this sounds good to you, consider Park home insurance cover, which can protect your asset against multiple threats and factors.

Primary Investments

After you’ve invested in assets or belongings that you will own and that can benefit you directly in the short term, you can start looking at investments in other areas. A good place to invest is primary investments in stocks and shares. These investments will be into companies that are booming right now as a result of the pandemic and that are generating a lot of money in the short term. Here are some examples of companies and areas you should consider investing in.

PPE

PPE is in extremely high demand right now. Items such as face masks and face visors are being used by near enough everyone right now. From hospital staff to day to day individuals going about their usual business. You need to wear masks if you are still working and in close proximity to others, if you head into the shops to do your grocery shopping, if you need to use public transport, if you need to pick up prescriptions from the pharmacy and pretty much anything else in public. This means people are buying up PPE at an unprecedented rate, more is being produced than ever before, and there’s a lot of money being generated within the industry.

Antiviral Disinfectant

Another area that’s in high demand is antiviral disinfectant. Companies producing antiviral disinfectant are producing higher amounts of this product than ever before. It’s being used left, right and centre. People are using small amounts in their homes. Companies and businesses are using large amounts in their commercial premises. Hospitals are using it in bulk in their wards, waiting rooms, operating theatres and all other areas. Again, more antiviral disinfectant is being used than any time in recent history. So, again, this is a great area to invest in.

Antiviral Fogging

Along the same lines as antiviral disinfectant, we have antiviral fogging as a great investment. This is less used than antiviral disinfectant, but it’s still an industry that has experienced a spike in demand and sales. Antiviral fogging is being used in many environments that it hasn’t been before – generally areas that have been used by people who have then tested positive for the virus.

Deep Cleaning

We’ll round this section off with deep cleaning. Again, companies and other areas are having professional deep cleaning carried out in premises where people who have tested positive for the virus have spent time. Deep cleaning is in demand and it’s an area that’s making money – it’s worth investing in.

Secondary Investments

Next, you can start looking at secondary investments. These investments will pay off in the short to medium term. Generally speaking, you’ll be looking at investing in stocks and shares of things  that will be required to get us out of the pandemic and into the next phase where we start taking steps back to normality.

Refrigeration

With the development of a potentially usable Covid-19 vaccine, people have high hopes of life returning to normal in the foreseeable future. But there’s one difficulty – the vaccine has to be stored at minus 80 degrees to be effective. This is much lower than the usual refrigeration used by doctors surgeries and hospitals. The standard flu vaccine is generally stored at a more standard refrigeration level. So, in order to distribute and store the vaccine, refrigeration is going to have to become big business. More and more refrigeration transport options and units are going to have to be created and sold to give us a chance of overcoming the high rates of coronavirus present right now. Refrigeration is a wise secondary investment to make.

Tertiary Investments

Tertiary investments are longer term investments. Generally speaking, they are investments in stocks that you can buy cheap now, as the industries are at rock bottom, and can then benefit from when things start getting back to normal and these industries start booming again. This is low cost and high reward. You’ll just have to wait a little longer for your investment to pay off. Here are a few areas to focus on that could make you a fair amount of money in the long run. These include more obvious investments, like airlines and cruises.

This may all seem like a lot of information to take in, and you may need a little time to process it. But all in all, these are investments that are worth making and that could make all the difference to your finances throughout the upcoming months!
