When you’re in the swing of making money online, it’s pertinent to ask yourself what comes next.
This isn’t always easy. Even when you’re established and have a regular income, it can be difficult to take your eye off the “right now” so you can focus on the future. This is especially true if you don’t have a standard business model, and are instead bringing in money from multiple different sources. You might be earning with the likes of Fiverr, or reselling – neither of which are particularly conventional. It’s unlikely you’re going to be able to present a business plan, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a strategy.
Understanding The Need For Volume
When you’ve managed to generate an income from online sources, you then have to think about how you can generate more. Sometimes, this is going to become problematic – there aren’t always enough hours in the day to do everything you need to do. If the next step for you is purely going to be a matter of volume, then you have some decisions to make.
You could choose to give up more of your free time to completing more tasks, selling more, and doing all the other things you have done to bring in an income. This is rarely a pleasant thing to contemplate, however; not to mention the fact that time away from your business is essential to your personal happiness.
Getting Help
The next step for you might be to look into bringing in staff. Don’t worry, this isn’t as huge as it sounds. You don’t need to be looking for an office, investigating employee law, looking through group life insurance costs – all things you might want to consider in the future, but not right now.
What you can do is look for help in a remote way, potentially even using the services that you’ve sold your own skills on – such as Fiverr. A remote assistant could help you with listing items, for example, and there’s plenty of places to find them. By bringing someone else into the fold, you can increase the volume you’re working at and generate more income. Just ensure you’ve done the maths and that the extra you earn is enough to cover the cost of your assistant.
Cull The Chaff
When you’re drawing income from multiple sources, it’s easy to get caught up in an endless spin of tasks. You’re always looking for more; always looking to keep yourself busy and have the money coming in. If you take your eye off the ball, then that can mean you’re not using your time as effectively as you might be.
Take the time to investigate all the different strands that you make use of to draw an income. Try and work out the time it generally takes to generate £50 of income from each source. When you have assembled the times in a list, cut off the bottom one – the one that takes the most time to generate the £50. This then gives you the time to focus your energy on the higher-paying choices, ensuring that every hour you spend working is as profitable as it can be.
