Luxury Hotels and Resorts for When I Find a Treasure Chest!

When I locate that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, you can be sure I am going to spoil myself in style! On my shortlist are the following five-star hotels that rank as some of the most expensive places to stay.

The Awe-Inspiring Emirates Palace

Costing around US$3 billion to build, the Emirates Palace has 394 rooms and suites, 40 conference and meeting rooms, a beach filled with white sand, scores of crystal pools and cool fountains, a sumptuous spa, marble imported from a total of 13 different countries around the world, and 1 000 crystal chandeliers!

The Emirates Palace is like a fortress of pleasure that further boasts some of the most acclaimed marina developments in all of the Middle East. Royalty, and those who wish to be treated as such, luxuriate in one of the perfect palace suites, all equipped with surroundings so lavish a Sultan of old would feel quite at home. Sign me up, please!

The Magnificent Mardan Palace Hotel

Telman Ismailov, the Russian billionaire, put US$1.65 billion into building the Mardan Palace Hotel in Antalya, Turkey, in 2009. It offers its guests the biggest swimming pool in all of the Mediterranean, fitting 1 000 guests in its refreshing depths, and is commonly held to be one of Europe’s most elite luxury hotels.

Beyond the sinfully splendid, sumptuous suites and incredible interiors that incorporate crystal, gold leaf, and Italian marble, I would spend some of my treasure money at one of the ten dining spots, have a cocktail or seven at one of the 17 bars, and then sober up in the luxury of the spa, taking in the sunken aquarium surroundings, relaxing as I watch the exotic fish go about their business.

9,000 tons of white sand got flown in from Egypt for the beach at which I plan to work on my tan, and I will most certainly make full use of the 24/7 personal butler service this palatial hotel offers!
