The Return of Corduroy

Back in 2008, fitted caps were my thing. Once I decide that something is my thing, I take it to the extreme. I went through New Era and Reebok versions of all the MBL, NFL, NBA and NHL teams that I messed with around that time. I went all the way in, and probably peaked too soon. From there, I had nowhere to go. Where do you go when you're at the top and your nearest competition is years behind? You switch up the flex on them. That's exactly what I did when I decided to bring out the corduroy.

If I had images of the cap now, I'd show you. It's hard to imagine based on the sorts of things I wear now and even what I was wearing the year prior, but you better believe that it happened. It was a fly deep navy strapback piece and it inspired me to grab some dark blue corduroy trousers to go along with it. I'm sure that the look only made a couple of brief appearances out in the open, but they were a statement of how to resurrect underrated styles and bring them up to date. It was a moment in time, so you had to see it in context to understand why the look worked, along with a white tee.

The good people over at Chums may not have seen how I was moving in 2009, but they know that it's about time we started taking the cords seriously again for the close of 2017 and into 2018. Below you can read all about the corduroy story, taking it right back to 200 AD in Egypt to modern day. I had no idea it stretched further back than last century, never mind way back then.
