Slice the Pie is a site where everyday people get to have their say on things they’re otherwise just fed. It began as a platform where people were shared what they thought about music. They gave you a snippet of a tune, you reviewed it, and you got rewarded for doing so. It’s expanded beyond that to adverts and branding too, but the idea remains the same; they’ll break a little cash off to you for saying what you think of things.

What’s in It for You?

You get to hear the music of the future. No joke.

OK, maybe not. But what you do get is the chance to earn money from home for writing a few words. It really doesn’t take very much time – per review – at all.

What’s in it for Them?

Head over to soundout.com. That’s their client-facing website, that attracts musicians and brands to sign up to their platform. They offer them to ability to be showcased to thousands of reviewers. They then analyse the semantics of the words reviewers use to feed back to clients.

They ensure that you’re doing an OK job by monitoring your wording. If your reviews are all coming out a bit samey or you rate everything at the same level, they will soon work out that you’re not right for their platform. This means they’re able to give some valuable information to their clients about what real people think about the music and the advertising featured.

What's My Experience with Slice the Pie?

I was there when Slice the Pie launched. Active. On this. Gimme the music. Yeah!

When I heard the music they were pushing, my goodness, I wasn’t impressed. That’s never stopped me writing before, so I persisted until I hit redemption. It was so simple to do. All you do is listen in to the music, say a few things about it, and give a rating for it. Smooth process right there.

After I managed to cash out the first time, I had absolutely no interest in returning to Slice the Pie. It was a hard slog to get up to that redemption point, and I feel for anyone who has struggled their way to get to it. At the time, I was reviewing music I actually liked elsewhere and I was being paid a lot more for it, so it just didn’t make sense to stick at this.

I’ve only ever gone back when they tend to promotions for higher rewards. They might have been able to trick me into participating again, but it would never last for more than a couple of hours. The more active you are on there, the higher the rewards are. It’s a good system, but it means it takes a while for it to be worth the time investment.

In the newer days where they’ve become a lot more like a regular survey site, I haven’t participated enough to know how they stack up, compared to their peers. Based on the question they threw at me when I just opened it up now, I don’t need to put myself through the experience again.

Yes, it’s easy work, but it’s seriously going to take you too long to get to the point where you can redeem cash. There are far better ways to make money online than this.

Is Slice the Pie a Scam?

No. They have paid me. They pay in dollars straight to your PayPal. PayPal converts that into pound sterling for you. When the pound’s not doing so well, that’s great news for you. It might take 5 days for the money to get to you, but that’s nothing really. They’re good people. Trust me.

Summary

Sounds like a different vibe to other survey sites. I mean, there’s more music going off with this one. However, it’s just as poorly paying as basically all of the other ones out there.
