It’s hilarious, but I completely get that you can get complacent in the very early stages of a new project. When I mean ‘early’, I mean before you’ve got anything to show. The simple fact that you’ve come up with a viable concept may feel like all you need to do, and that you can get back to it later. You already feel accomplished. I’ve been there so many times before.

So what we’re going to do today is take that project that you’re thinking about and actually get it under way. It’s time to kick it off. Today. Now.

I’m going to give you a list of all the different ways you can kick the project off and force you to take more action from this point onwards.

  • Create a business plan
  • Make a six-month plan of the steps you need to have achieved
  • Buy the domain
  • Do a competitor analysis
  • Bin another project that isn’t working in the way you expected it to
  • Make a fresh, anonymous social media account and document the development
  • Create a marketing and branding document
  • Make/create the brief for a logo
  • Make/create the brief for a website
  • Buy the website hostage
  • Tell someone else about your idea

Sometimes all you need is that little catalyst to get the ball rolling, and you’ll just get on with things from there. It may not work for everyone, but I know there’s someone out there on the fence with an idea that needs a little inspiration to get to action.

I only wrote this because bought a domain in 2017 that I didn’t buy hostage for until last September, and up to this day all I’ve done is write x2 blog posts for it. And it’s literally just a content site that I’m going to monetise for affiliate offers. If I don’t just set some time aside, I’m just going to continue to keep losing money on it, instead of cashing in on the opportunity that I saw two years ago.

Let’s go.
