Why I Made a Site for My Domain Portfolio

These days there are some really good free services that allow you to showcase your for-sale domain portfolio. They don’t require you to do anything other than literally copy and paste your list onto their platform. From there, visitors will be able to see, inquire about and purchase the domains that you put out there.

That’s perfect, and it’s most likely where the majority of your sales will take place. I use as many of them as possible. Whenever I add a new domain to my portfolio, it goes on Afternic, Dan.com and then Sedo, because I’m probably going to sell it via one of those platforms in the end. However, I can’t rely on other people’s products to get me sales.

The day that I decided that I was going to take domaining seriously was the day that I made a website for mine. I added the majority of the domains that I own, along with prices and a one or two-word description of the industry it fits in with.

Having this means I can:

Own a central hub and experiment with customisable landing pages
Sell via my own preferred channels
Encourage people to sign up to an email list to receive notification of my domains
When conducting outreach, direct people to a site of my own domains, rather than thousands of other people’s
Generate organic search to my domains through my own platform
Get a better understanding of the traffic to my domains
Complete flexibility about how to market my domains

Considering that domains are usually the address for websites, a significant number of domain investors ironically do not have their own website. Whatever the reason is I feel as though it can only benefit to have such an entity on the web. I may even end up publishing domain investment-related content on there in the future.
