If you're fed up with your current role – be it in an office or in customer service – you're going to need change. But change isn't easy to find, or come across. Sometimes change needs to be forced. However, jumping from a cushy role into unemployment is dangerous. You need to consider what your next move is way before you start to make it. Way-way-way before you make the move! A good example is running your own business. If you want to run a business – you need the idea, and you need to know what you are going to do, and you need to forecast your income so you can actually afford to live. This can sometimes be a true all-or-nothing move, and if it fails, it can be disastrous. That being said, if your dream is to run your own business, you need to really assess how you can follow your dreams, because not much should come before your goals!

There are plenty of ways to make money, though, and if you're fed up with your job right now, you don't have to make smash and grab moves into new career paths. You should look towards what your talents can do for you right now. Everyone, no matter who you are, has talents that could quite possibly make some money. The internet offers that possibility to you right now.

For example, people who are a dab hand at writing will find success at blogging as they are able to craft content for all sorts of purposes and means. Writing about your passions is a great way to build a following, which of course you can sell to to make some money. Some people are good at sales, so they market products, or review them to a audience via visual means.

Writing is a good talent to have, and if you want to use any talent to make some money – you’ll have to work on your writing as you’ll need that to get anywhere. If you aren’t using a blog or website to gain a following or sell – you’re going to need one to display your talents and skills. A website is the central hub to display the podcast and thus attract sponsors – if your audience figures are getting quite lofty, there’s a chance you could make a good bit of money while still holding down a full time role.

Sometimes a career change isn’t about making a leap, it’s finding out what skills you can use to make money and slowly building your empire. At that point, you can make the leap, but not before your talent builds a foundation for you to land on.
