Here’s how to manage your money on the income that you have.
Automatic saving
Consider depositing half (or at least a third) of your income into a savings account. By doing this every month your money will start growing a whole lot, and you will be safe if ever something bad happens and you need money to get you out of the situation. But not only that, you could really look forward to your future because you will have enough to start making big decisions, like buying a house, a car, or even plan to go traveling for a while.
Live in what you can afford
Don't rent out a three bedroom apartment if you're the only person that lives there. You will be spending way more than you need to because not only are you paying for the two extra rooms, but the bills will cost you a lot more than they would in a one bedroom apartment because it will take a lot more to heat the place up.
Avoid credit cards
Try and avoid credit cards at all costs, they are far too easy to get carried away with and end up in some serious money troubles like debt. Cash it a great way to pay for things because it feels more important than a plastic card does. You can see exactly how much money you have on you and makes the decision of spending it a lot more real. Whereas when you have a credit card, you just pass it over, type in some numbers and it's done. It doesn't even feel like you've spent any money, even though your bank account may be crying.
Prioritise your bills
Bills are very important. If you fall behind in payments it could lead to serious consequences that no one wants to face, so make sure you pay when you're supposed to. Think about what comes first in the month, is it your house, your car or the smaller things like your gym membership and your phone bill? If you have a poor credit score then why not look at options that better suit you, like to pay weekly phones with no deposit? Or memberships that work out cheaper if you pay for the whole year, instead of every month.
Cook your own food
As nice as it is going out to eat in restaurants or ordering in takeout, it's not a smart move if you're trying to save money. Instead, plan what meals you will have every week and make a grocery list. This won't just work out a lot cheaper than eating out every night, but you will have a shopping budget to go by, so you can't be tempted into overspending once you're in the supermarket.
Now you see that living off your income isn't as hard as people say it is. No matter how much money you are making, the same rules apply. So as long as you take the time out and make a real conscious effort, you could be saving up a whole bunch within the next few months!
