You may think your blog is just for fun, or that you won’t make much money from blogging. However, that is not true. There are many ways to take this hobby or passion of yours and earn from it. With the potential for these earnings to continue to rise and rise until you are earning more each month than you are from your standard 9-5.
The even better part of this is, that this is available to everyone. You don’t need your blog to be around a specific set niche in order to earn. You just need to be able to talk about something that interests you and can engage others. From there with some dedication and hard work you’ll be able to build regular traffic to your site and a following.
Initial Blog Set-Up
You’ve taken the first step in deciding to start your blog. You’ve researched your topic and you started writing and creating your own blog posts. The next job to do is to use social media and shout about your blog and attract an audience to read your content. Reach out to other bloggers within your field, they can offer great support and help you grow organically through guest writing, backlinks, and advice and support.
Start Earning
Your blog has been running for a while. You’ve slowly built up a fan base and your receiving regular traffic onto your blog site. Now is the time to consider venturing into earning. There are various ways to do this.
Affiliate Marketing
This is where you write and post blogs with affiliate links included. When someone clicks through the affiliate link and proceeds to make a purchase you will receive a percentage commission each time.
Consider it a ‘thank you’ for advertising their product. Of course, when doing this it is worthwhile checking affiliate program reviews to make sure they are reputable and they will enhance the brand you’ve built for yourself within your blog.
Add Banner Adverts
Alternatively, you could choose to add a visual advert to your blog, by adding a banner. In essence, what you are doing here is selling space within your blog for a visual advert to be placed.
You tend to find them, most commonly placed as a banner across the top of the page or boxed adverts within the sidebar. With earning from this you’ll find you will get paid one of two ways. Either from the ‘impressions’ the advert receives or via cost per click.
Write Sponsored Content
This works well when you have a strong niche and theme running throughout your blog. Once you’ve built up your own reputation brands will usually reach out to you in order to discuss the opportunity of working with your for a sponsored piece.
A sponsored content post is in essence when you are are being paid to write a blog post about a set product or range. Within this you may also be able to include affiliate links but it will depend upon the contract and agreement that you make.
