Selling your car doesn’t have to take up tons of your time and it doesn’t have to be a long and daunting process either. In fact, if you follow these simple tips then you will soon find that selling your vehicle is easier and faster than ever before.

Paperwork

The first thing that you need to do is find out if you have all of the paperwork for your car already sorted out. If you have a loan on the car then you also need to work out how much you need to pay off. The buyer will then have to make two payments, one to pay off the car and the other to try and pay the remaining balance to you. If you do not have a loan on the car at all then it helps to figure out where the title is. You may have thrown this away years ago thinking that you didn’t need to keep it and that is completely okay because you can easily get a duplicate from your local motor department. Having this is very important if you want to sell your car to someone else.

Condition

Once you have all of the paperwork in order, you then need to try and accurately describe the condition of the vehicle. Are you ready to sell? If your car has worn out tyres, some major dents or even broken window electronics then there is a high chance that this will seriously bring down the value. This is something that you will want to avoid, so try and get all of these repairs and upgrades done before you sell. After all you will almost certainly make enough money to pay for the jobs that have been done and you may be able to make a profit as well.

Time and Commitment

Selling your car does require some level of commitment. It probably won’t be as easy as meeting with someone, agreeing on the price and handing over the keys. You may have to show the car to other people and this means taking your time out of your schedule. It may be possible for you to trade your car in at a local dealership if you don’t have time for that and this is a great way for you to get some money discounted on your new vehicle as well. After all, what better way to get that 68 plate Vauxhall you have always wanted?

Negotiations

Selling your car will take some negotiating. So many people are offered a price by a buyer that is lower than what they are trying to sell the car for and this is completely normal. You should however avoid accepting this price right away because buyers like to haggle and if you are not careful then you will lose out way more money than you need. If a buyer offers you a price that is way lower than what you are selling the car for, don’t be afraid to say no. After all the last thing that you want to do is accept the price out of fear of not selling the car at all. Instead, offer to meet them halfway.
