If you’re trying to succeed in business, then you’ve probably spent some time researching how you can boost your productivity, how you can have more energy, be more focused, and more creative, too. There are many ways to do this, including taking cold showers and exercising, but there’s one option that is typically overlooked: spending time in the great outdoors. Nature is good for many things, including your business, yet many people choose to spend the majority – if not all – of their time in the city. Below, we take a look at how you can get more nature into your life, and boost your productivity.

Make it a Priority

Since we’re all living in urban areas, it’s not as easy to spend some time in the great outdoors as it once was. That’s why we need to make it a priority; it’s unlikely to happen if you don’t! Instead of your usual Saturday plans to meet up with friends and do one of the many fun things you can do in the city, commit to getting away from the manmade structures, and into nature instead. You’ll only be losing one day in the city, but might just return an inspired entrepreneur.

Nearby Nature Zones

Now, we know what you might be thinking: “nature? Where’s that?” And you’d have a fair point. If you’re living in a large city, then it can seem like the urban sprawl just goes on and on and on. But dig a little deeper, and you might be surprised to discover that there are plenty of nature zones within an easy driving distance of your home. Pack a lunch, get into the car, and take a drive into the country. Even if it’s just a walk through the woods and wetlands, you’ll be able to get your nature fix.

A Long Trip

The longer you spend in nature, the deeper the impact. While spending a day or so in the outdoors will be beneficial, you’ll be better served by taking a longer trip. Fortunately, this is no chore: it can be a great way to spend your time away from work! Next time you’re looking for places to visit, look to the outdoors, in both your own country and beyond. If you spend a week walking in, say, the Scottish Highlands, you’re going to return to reality bursting with ideas, and the energy to make them happen.

Activities

To make nature a long-term part of your life, look at taking up an outdoor recreational activity. This can be anything you like, be it hiking, cycling, or watersports such as kitesurfing or kayaking. Once you’ve gotten over the learning curve of the activity, you’ll be able to throw yourself into the activity with gusto, and then you’ll have the perfect excuse to leave city-life behind and head to the outdoors.

Sunday Walks

If nothing else, then at least go for a Sunday morning walk through a large park. It’ll help to clear your head, think deep, and figure out where you want to take your career next.
