Very few people actively enjoy exercise. That’s because the majority of us approach it as if it’s a chore. It’s no wonder so few of us manage to stick to that strict jogging regime we set ourselves as a New Year’s Resolution each year. You need to find a style of physical activity that suits your interests and your busy routine. If you want to stick to your exercise pattern on a permanent basis then it’s crucial that you want to do it and not that you simply “want to” want to do it… if that makes sense. Here are some tips to help you make exercise fun and actually stick to it.

Casual workouts.

You might hate the idea of hitting the gym for hours upon hours every day of the week, and that’s understandable. But you should forget the idea of the bodybuilding gym fanatic because there are other ways to approach a healthy and satisfying workout. You don’t have to take the insane approach if you’d prefer to take things a little more easily. The key thing is that you should be getting your body active. You might want to try something fun like a weighted hula hoop, which we discussed in another of our articles.

Try sports instead.

This is definitely one of the most fun ways to work out. Or, at least, it might be perfect for you if you’re not into jogging, strength training, or other kinds of exercise that seem a little too repetitive and regimented for you. If you’re somebody who wants to be physically active without thinking about the fact that you’re physically active then taking up a sport might be perfect for you. You’ll be getting involved in a fun activity without realizing that you’re even doing exercise.kin

Get your buddies involved too. Playing sports with friends is definitely a much more fun way of approaching exercise than hitting the gym on your own, for example. You could always create more of an incentive for everybody to hang out and kick around a ball by heading to the bar afterwards to watch the game instead of playing it. You could head over to www.unibet.co.uk/betting/football if you wanted somewhere to make it fun with some wagers. Of course, you’d need to be responsible with that. The point is that you might find you get more into playing sports if you watch them as well; get into the atmosphere of the game, and get into the community mind-set which comes with the game. Don’t force yourself to play a sport if you’re not into it. It might be time to try something else if that’s the case…

Create a chilled playlist.

As suggested over at www.realsimple.com/health/fitness-exercise, you need some solid music if you want to catapult your exercise routine into the next level. Perhaps you like jogging but you hate the silence of your front room or, alternatively, the racket of your local gym. A solid playlist on your phone with some good noise-cancelling headphones could create a motivational soundtrack to your physical activity.

Whatever approach you take, whether it’s a cool playlist or a fun night with your friends to reward yourselves after a long day of playing sports, you need to find a way to make exercise fun for you. Don’t do what you think you should be doing; do what’s right for you.
