Cryptocurrency is annoying, because I've known about it for years and done so little about it. I found out the hype in March 2013 (according to my Gmail), probably during a DLR ride to university. Blockchain, Mt. Gox, Ripple, CoinDesk, all of that stuff. I signed up to them all, but wasn't brave enough to invest. Instead, it led me to about a month of daily mining tasks that felt like PTC/ClixSense stuff all over again. I ducked out, saw the value rise, saw it get mainstream attention, saw a Mt Gox get hacked, then vowed to just leave all that stuff in my past.

Blockchain - March 2013 - Probably Busy

I had a chat with my cousin last month. He's just like me – has tried various means to make money off and online – and he gave me the blueprint to his friend's cryptocurrency empire. This guy had made various flips to turn £5,000 into £30,000 in a few months. Mental! He put this little Google Doc together to show others how to do it too. Hmmm.

Having been here before and seen enough online marketers try to convince me that their business model was best, I knew to basically ignore this master plan. I'm wise enough to know anything on a mass-shared Google Doc is worth nothing, but I recognise that cryptocurrency shouldn't be ignored any more. There are so many places I can get Etherium from, or I could buy bitcoin with Commsec. There are just so many options to choose from, so the issue is just figuring out how to focus.

Then I forgot about it again.

Wasteman antics.

In the last week, four different people I've followed on YouTube and blogs have all discussed cryptocurrency. Some saying they had made decent sums in the past few months, and others just getting started with it. I didn't need to hear anymore.

Bitcoin April 2013 to August 2017 - Probaby Busy

The growth in the last month has been crazy, probably thanks to the Bitcoin Cash launch and funding all over the place. Compared to the last year, the growth is a joke. Compared to when I first got in, I look a damn fool for not just putting £1 in.

Tuesday night I set up a Coinbase account, then a Coinfloor one, and a couple others. Yesterday I attempted to convert some cash on Coinbase, but the order kept cancelling until they wouldn't let me try any more. Tonight I a dropped £400 into Bitcoin via Coinfloor, and £100 into a selection of other cryptocurrencies.

I'll probably find an exchange. I probably could have invested in better cryptocurrency. I probably came in too late. All I know is that I'm in right now.

Let's see what happens.

BTC Transaction - Probably Busy

Update: I sold it in July 2019 for £936.80 (which isn't the most I could have got over all this time, but not too bad for a two-year investment).
