Want to get paid for the things you already do? I mean, that sounds like the life everyone wants. The truth is that it’s never been easier to earn money for doing the most ordinary of tasks. While the majority aren’t going to earn you enough to escape the 9-to-5, they’ll all plump up your pockets (PayPal account or gift card drawer) with a little more than before.

There’s a stigma about having to monetise hobbies these days. Many would prefer that they can enjoy their free time, without the pressure of having to make it pay. Here are a few ways you can carry on doing what you’re doing (maybe with a little effort) and get rewarded for it.

1. Get Paid to Walk

Your smartphone DOESN’T have Sweatcoin on it? I’ve got some homework for you. There’s this app that rewards you for walking. It wants nothing else from you other than a little bit of movement over the course of the day. Enough movement and you can redeem your Sweatcoin for tangible goods.

2. Sell Your Photos

Your phone is most likely filled with all sorts of things you’ve come across. Whether you fancy yourself as a photographer or not, there’s a fair chance that something in your iCloud is worth cash. There are lots of ways to sell your photos these days, so explore them before you go on a deleting spree.

3. Declutter

Every once and a while we’ll all have a sort out, and get rid of the clutter in our homes. While you may be tempted to take it all down to the skip or take it to a charity shop, you may get a decent return if you opt to list your items on a marketplace like eBay or Gumtree.

4. Get Paid to Shop

I’m disappointed in everyone that isn’t signed up to TopCashback by now. What is your excuse? You receive money back for shopping online. It’s free money and can add up to hundreds if you use it when buying electrical, insurance, utilities, clothes and more via their website.

5. Earn Commission for Recommendations

Remember when Uber turned up, and everyone was sharing their codes for free rides? Well there are thousands of similar schemes that do even better – they give you cash. You can earn money for sharing fashion recommendations, letting people know where to buy a decent camera, or even for telling people to sign up for mailing lists. Specialists in this are called affiliate marketers. Once you’ve earned your first few commissions, you’ll want to know a lot more about it.

6. Get Paid for Your Mobile Usage Data

There's a little piece of software you can install on your phone called MobileXpression. Once there, it tracks what you do with your phone (avoiding personally identifiable information) and rewards you for being so kind. Once it's on your phone, you don't have to do a thing, and you get rewarded with Amazon gift cards. It just makes sense.

7. Occupy Time on Your Commute

Most people have got their habits when they’re commuting. They might have got into reading, listening to a particular podcast or catching up on TV they’ve missed. Want to make money without putting much brainpower in? Download some paid survey apps or even ones that pay you to play games.

8. Use the Internet

Qmee is where it's at. It's an extension that rewards you for going about your business online. If you happen to search for particular products on Google, Amazon, eBay or a few other places, it will trigger a series of links to appear. Click any of those links and you get money in your account. It's crazy that it exists, and even crazier that you're not already using it.

9. Document Regularly

It’s been a while since I’ve scrolled through a Facebook feed, but I recall a handful of people that would posts near-weekly monologues to their friends. Stick that on a blog with some photos and you have something that you can eventually make money from. I’ve explained how to make money this way before, but simply by creating content, you can build an audience. Once you have that, there’s no stopping you. I've made a whole other blog, which should earn me money for just talking about my home life (I topic I just so happen to be a leading specialist in).
