Simply put, reselling has been the reason that I’ve been able to create the lifestyle that I have today. There’s no doubt about it. If I hadn’t fallen into reselling back in 2013, I wouldn’t now be in this position where I am working for myself on my own schedule. But that doesn’t mean that I’ve reached the finish line.

My goals are bigger and I have always seen reselling as a means to an end. It’s not something I want to boast about doing when I’m up in my 40s. I’ve got plans, and eventually I’m going to get to the point where services like Homewyse become essential to the way I operate.

1.Upscale

Believe it or not, but my actual first start in ‘reselling’ wasn’t really reselling at all, because I wasn’t even buying an stock; I was getting it all for free. Freecycle is a platform which allows people to list things that they no longer need, so others can take it off their hands for free. I used to take anything that I knew would make me profit, and drive all around South London to get my stock up. It was the foundation that took me to where I am now.

The downside about getting all of the stock for free was that I was limited in the kinds of things I could get my hands on, which is why I then reinvested my profits into buying other things, which took me into online arbitrage, and then buying my inventory wholesale.

2. Domain Investing

Domain investing is the act of buying domains with the intension of either sitting on them (for parking revenue) or selling them for a lump sum in the future. Every time you buy a domain, whether it’s for $10 at registration fee or $100 at auction, you are in possession of an asset. These assets, even with an untrained seller, can earn you a x10 profit margin.

It’s a lot less liquid than what I’m used to with reselling, but it does offer so much more revenue for so much less time investment.

3. Web Renovation

Taking things up a level, web renovation (which may be called something else) is something that I have just started doing, and know will take me up to another level in the future. It involves taking existing websites and/or previously owned domains and developing them so they become an even more profitable operation.

Having a portfolio of these will be like an inventory of products; the only difference being I get to keep selling things (products, services, advertising placements on them) and keep the ‘land’.

4. Retail Estate Investing

This is the goal. I see this as the absolute finish line. As many other people that have got themselves into a very stable financial position have found, real estate is one of the best ways to hold your stability for the long-term.

Although it’s obviously very different to all of the online things I have been doing and will be doing in the future, some of the skills and ideas from web renovation will actually be transferable here too.
