Are you preparing your ecommerce site and already starting to notice some issues? Here are the major mistakes that you must avoid with this business idea.
Security Fails
It’s true to say that when buying online, customers have become a lot more anxious and perhaps paranoid about security. That’s somewhat understandable and within the next few years, there will be a hack on a business every twenty seconds. That probably does and should scare you. It scares your customers too and a single hack on your business is the only reason they do not need to buy from your company.
To avoid this issue, you need to make sure that you are investing in the right security software. This can be as simple as just making sure your site is running with an SSL certificate on Https. Believe it or not, a lot of companies are still failing here and if your business is one of them, it’s time to change things.
Trouble With Tax
You do need to make sure that you are aware of the tax you will have to pay. Don’t forget, when you’re operating as an ecommerce seller and providing products to buying customers, VAT is an issue that you will have to address. You’ll need to make sure that you are paying the right amount. This can be quite tricky but there is digital VAT software. That essentially automates the process.
Don’t forget that if you don’t get tax right you could run into serious issues. Generally speaking, you’ll get money back if you overpay, but if you underpay, you could be heavily penalised. It is thus, worth taking the time to make sure that you get this right from the very beginning.
Slow Loads
Are you worried about customers clicking off your site before they make a purchase? This could happen because of poor loading times. Customers hate waiting around and if a site page doesn’t load in three seconds, they are going to click away. Usually, this is an issue with hosting. It can be fixed by upgrading your hosting solution and gaining access to faster speeds.
Poor Pics
Finally, if you are hoping to ensure that customers do want to buy your products, then you need to make sure that you are providing them with a good reason to. Marketing matters here and you need to make sure that the items you are selling look appealing. That’s not always easy but there are some simple steps you can take. You should be thinking about the photos and images you are using for the products. They should look professional with white backgrounds that make the product stand out. You don’t want to be mistaken for the typical amateur.
It’s even worth investing in some photography equipment if you are not going to use a professional to manage this area of your brand profile. You might also want to consider how many photos you provide. Generally speaking, more is always a smart choice here. That way you can make sure that a client won’t avoid a purchase because they didn’t see enough of the product.
