Truth be told, online arbitrage with Amazon does get boring after a while. I’ve got a few years in the game and the novelty definitely wears off after a while. Once you’ve got solid processes in place and you’re in the same cycle of hunting for products, prepping them and repricing, it can feel like exactly the thing you were trying to avoid.

No one wants to be bored with their own business (especially if it’s eating into your only spare time). If it’s your full-time gig, that monotony is only going to drag you down. Take action as soon as you feel like it’s a never-ending cycle of the same thing.

Here are a few ways you can get those sparks flying again:

1. Outsource the Work

If certain tasks really bore you to the point that you wish they would disappear, train someone else to do it for you. Find a VA or admin specialise People Per Hour that you see potential in, and get them to do it for you.

Creating process documents and guides really makes you appreciate how much you know about Amazon selling. You’ll feel so much better being free of certain activities, with the time to channel energy into something else.

2. Take a Break

At some point you’re going to have to take a little time off. It’s probably best to do it at a time when you feel as though you haven’t got the motivation for Amazon selling. Give it a good few days – a week if you can.

Try to avoid going on the SellerCentral app too. Come back and see if the time away has inspired you to change your game a little.

3. Go Through Every Listing

When your inventory swells deep into the hundreds you can easily loose track of the things you sell and how well they’re doing. By going through all of your listings, you can learn about the things you’ve bought in the past, what you’ve done well, and where you’ve made bad decisions.

Take notes, make adjustments (like getting excess inventory sent back to you) and advance from there.

4. Change Your Sourcing Methods

One-dimensional sourcing is probably the quickest route to online arbitrage burnout. If you find yourself going through the same cycle (whatever your favourite sourcing method happens to be) try something new.

Switch things up a little and try a process you might not have done in a while, or you may never have attempted before. There are so many ways to get to the same goal with Amazon, so just mix it up every now and again.

5. Connect with Other Sellers

There are so many Amazon communities; Facebook groups, Instagram hashtag huddles, forums, conferences and get-togethers. Being around people in the same sphere as you can inspire you to make certain changes to your strategy to make selling more enjoyable (as it may not require you to do as much, or may mean that you make even more money.)

Whether you choose to do it in person or online, being able to communicate with others in your situation can break the loneliness and monotony that can come with online arbitrage.

6. Consider Making a Private Label Product

You already know what sells. You know how Amazon works. You know a lot more than most people about to embark on a PL venture on the world’s biggest marketplace. If you really want to break the cycle of online arbitrage, try something completely different.

Use a couple of your disbursements to invest in stock that you’ve had manufactured yourself in China (or wherever else) and sell it alongside your online finds.
