It’s a hard concept, but right here and right now you should stop comparing yourself to others. It’s not easy to do because looking around at other people is how we find our inspiration and find qualities that we wish we had, but the one thing we shouldn’t do is compare ourselves to other people. We are all different in the best of ways, and while we admire those around us, we often forget that we hold our own value without having to emulate someone else.

It’s not always easy to identify within yourself what you have that others don’t. It can feel a lot like arrogance, to big yourself up and give yourself a boost. The thing is, it’s SO worth the time you take to discover what you love about you and what you can do well that others may not be able to. Artists love to doodle and draw, so buy the best fine art equipment and paints to allow their natural talent to come out. Musicians are creative and love to create a sound that others will appreciate, so therefore they take lessons with Zaid Crowe Guitarist, who can teach them to learn a new instrument and have a new appreciation for their own talent. That moment of discovery in your own abilities could change your life. It’s all well and good, though, for me to tell you that it’s easy to own your talent, but if you haven’t got a clue how to look for that talent, you’re going to struggle. There are a couple of ways that you can help yourself to discover what’s great about you, and here they are:

Ask your friends. Your closest friends and family are going to know all the good and bad things about you and your talents and they love you anyway. They will be the ones to tell you straight whether you can or cannot do something. You could think you carry a tune, where actually your strength lies in playing piano. They’ll be honest and tell you to focus on what you are good at instead!

Pay attention to you. When you’re doing something you enjoy, catch yourself in that moment and recognise what you are doing well. Have you just nailed a roast dinner or cheesecake recipe without looking at the books to tell you what to do? You could have a natural ability to cook without even knowing it. Pay attention to those moments, because you could recognise something about yourself that you didn’t even know.

Get passionate. You have natural strengths; they may be down deep, but they’re there! Work out what they are and get passionate about those strengths. Align them to things that you love the most and maximise how you feel about them; voila! Talent!

You have it within you to give something to yourself that makes you proud. Once you get hold of it, you can make the world happy with what you can do. Don’t let it go!
