There comes a time in most driver's lives where they have to say goodbye to the old and welcome the new. Whether you want an upgrade or your needs have changed, getting rid of your old car and making a good amount of money out of it can be a real challenge. Not only will you have to find a buyer for the motor in question, but you will also have to handle all of the little jobs along the way.

Privately

A lot of people are choosing to sell their car privately, nowadays. This sort of option gives you full control of the process, and will mean that you get to enjoy all of the profits, but will also be a huge amount of work. Websites like eBay will make it easy to advertise your car, though you will still have to arrange test drives and visits from potential buyers to get someone else behind the wheel. If you have strict time constraints, this sort of route is often a bad one to take.

Through A Garage

There are garages all over the world, and a lot of them are happy to buy second hand cars to sell on to someone else. Companies like Century Cars have been doing this for a long time, but will only accept cars which are in good condition, making it worth giving your motor a good clean and polish before taking it in. This won’t earn you as much as going private, but will save a lot of the time you’d have to spend.

Part Exchange

If you’re already planning to buy a new car, and only need to wait for your old one to be gone to get the ball rolling, a part exchange can be a great route to take. This works similarly to selling to a garage, only the value of your old car is taken off the new one. You will usually make more from this than directly selling to the garage, but it will take longer and you still won’t make as much as going privately.

To A Large Company

Finally, as the last option on this list, it’s time to think about the large companies out there which are happy to buy any car. Unfortunately, the price which businesses like this give you will often be false at the beginning. When they come to see your car, money will be shaved off, and you will be left with far less than you anticipated. This is easily avoidable by simply using the other options on this list.

With all of this in mind, you should be feeling ready to begin the process of selling your car. There are loads of ways to go down this route, and a lot of people end up making less than they should in the process. You can change this for yourself, though, using the internet, local resources, and the people around you to find the very best price for your car, even if it takes a little bit of time.
