In spite of what a lot of people may think, blogs aren’t just personal diaries. People are using blogs in all types of diverse ways to spread information that may not be documented, or covered from particular perspectives. It’s for this reason that blogs have gone in so many directions, with so many niches having blog styles that barely resemble the personal diary-style logs that many still think they are.
Also – there are so many reasons why you should have one, if you still haven’t.
Even if you run a blog named after yourself, and is largely about your lifestyle, there’s still a whole host of different tasks that you can outsource to VAs to get done for you. These are the tasks that come to my mind first:
1. Writing
Believe it or not, but so many people are the faces of blogs for which most of the content is written by others. If it’s something like a product review, you really don’t have to do the writing yourself.
The majority of the time, blog visitors are going to be visiting your site for the first time ever. They’re not going to notice if a certain post doesn’t quite match your regular tone of voice. If you’re ever overwhelmed with deadlines on collaborations and sponsored posts, just get someone else to do the work for you.
NB: I wrote this and everything else you see on here!
2. Deal Sourcing
For bloggers that rely heavily on affiliate revenue, it’s a really good idea get someone that focuses their attention on watching out for deals on your behalf. They can do things like add promo codes to your blog posts as and when they go live, so that you can increase your revenue.
For example, if you have done an outfit post in nothing but ASOS, once the 20% code comes around at the end of the month, they would tip you off that you need to make sure the code is in there (and remove it when it’s no longer relevant). If you do email marketing for your blog, having someone watching out for deals like this can really make a difference to your conversions.
3. SEO
Keyword research, updating title tags and meta descriptions, fixing broken links, and all of that good stuff. SEO is a complex field and unless you have spent a good deal of time learning about it, it’s going to take some time for you to automatically optimise your blog posts as and when you upload them.
Over time it’s always a good idea to have an understanding of SEO, but if you’re pressed for time, there are many other bloggers to there that may be willing to lend their skills to assist with your site.
4. Social Media
There are many active bloggers that honed their craft before Instagram became what it has now. If you look at 2014 Instagram compared to today’s, you’ll know exactly what I mean. This being said, if you don’t like social media or just don’t enjoy interacting with strangers online, get someone else on the case.
Perhaps you’re just good at Twitter and know that you need to attract more traffic to your site. In many cases, getting someone else to manage your Pinterest account will mean that you’re able to dramatically grow your viewer numbers, without having to invest your own personal time learning the site and actively using it.
5. Reporting
I am a big fan of reporting on all of the projects I have on the go. On or around the first of every month, I’ll go through and see where I’m at with revenue, traffic, social media followers, ranking keywords and so many other details about my websites. For some people, Google Analytics, Search Console and social media third-party tools are just stressful to use, so it may be better getting someone else to report back on the status of your blog, and what you could potentially work on.
6. Graphics
We can be experts at everything, which is why I know so many bloggers that choose to get others to sort out all graphic-related activities for their website. It may be to create diagrams for them, edit photos or anything like that.
7. Content Uploading
I can’t imagine there are many people that prefer uploading content to actually writing it. It’s a real time-drainer, particularly when you know you could be doing other things instead.
The best way to go about this is to bulk write content and then hand over the assets to your VA, who can then spend a few hours uploading it all. This may be done once a week or month, or whatever fits in with the ways you write.
I recently launched a couple of websites that required around 1,000 data-based posts each at launch. I handed over the spreadsheets to a VA and let them crack on with getting the content live. I had done the hard work of ensuring all of the information was correct and it was down to them to simply transfer that to WordPress. It would have taken me months to launch if I didn’t have the help, so this saved me masses of time.
8. Link Acquisition
Like it or not, quality inbound links are going to benefit your site. If you find it complicated/intimidating/arduous, it’s no problem to reach out to experts that will be able to get these for you.
Where to Get Tasks Outsourced
I feel as though the best place to start with these things is to ask people you actually know first. If you understand their capabilities and they understand you, it may be easier to communicate what you want from them.
If you want to turn to specialists for tasks, you’re more than likely going to have to look elsewhere. I personally tend to find the most reliable freelancers for my blog-based tasks on People Per Hour. Click this link to get £30 credit to spend there on your first outsourced work.
