Let's be clear: there are benefits on selling on both Amazon and eBay. I do both. I rate both highly, I wouldn't leave one entirely. I've also done an eBay-favouring version of this post. That said, many eBayers – even he seasoned ones – haven't ever tried selling on Amazon.

Here are a handful of the merits of selling your products through Amazon:

1. They are the biggest

In the UK, Amazon.co.uk is the most popular online retailer. Second to none, receiving over double the monthly traffic eBay does. More traffic, more buyers, etc.

2.  High stock turnaround

No use in being the most popular if you're not making quick sales too. In Amazon's case, that huge advantage of being so in-demand means that most stock sells on there significantly quicker than on eBay.

3. Quick listings

For those selling new products already on Amazon's database, there is no need to photograph or describe items. This takes vital time out of the buying process, and gives you extra time to do other things.

4. They already sell everything

Store exclusives aside, most consumer protects can be found on Amazon. Many brands even stock their own products on there. This keeps customers coming back and prevents them for shopping around, helping to drive more sales on their site, compared to others.

5. Gift cards

If you don't know what to buy someone, they'll be able to find something for themselves on Amazon. This mentality keeps customers more likely to spend money on Amazon and more likely to find your listings.

6. Wish lists

Amazon's wish lists are a great way for gift givers to make purchases for loved ones. Wish lists can be found on other sites, but there are sooo many other sites. Most people use Amazon, so it makes it easy for them to see what they need/want, and buy without a second thought. This works in the favour of sellers.

7. Consumer perception

Many aren't aware that Amazon is a marketplace, and they don't dispatch all of the products sold on the website. It's completely different to eBay, where more are very much aware that they could be buying from someone just decluttering their home.

8. FBA

Fulfilment by Amazon takes all of he hard work out of selling. Once you list the products and get UPS to collect a box full of them, you can sit back and watch things sell. No more packaging, Post Office runs or additional admin.

9 Prime

Following on from the last point, all FBA orders are Prime-eligible. This means customers can get their items delivered the next day or on a nominated day, whereas eBay buyers expect a 3-day dispatch, followed by a 2-5 working day delay on delivery.

10. Higher prices

Being able to sell with FBA means you offer customers greater convenience with their purchases. These buyers are willing to pay for this convenience, as they trust that Amazon will offer great customer service at every step along the way.

11. Sales rank

Amazon literally tell you how well the product is selling. You can find if a product has sold on eBay, but it's not quite as powerful of seeing how well that particular items sells within a particular context, as Amazon does.

12. Level of competition

eBay sellers might only do it to get rid of extra things in their home. Amazon sellers are sometimes the same, but many are more commercially minded individuals. They know the value of upholding high prices, not undercutting competitors and so on. Serious FBA selling also requires a £30 monthly subscription that many wouldn't want to commit to.
