Life hits hard sometimes and throughout all the trials and tribulations we go through, putting on weight is one of the symptoms of a busy lifestyle. But first, let’s analyse how it happens, because that weight doesn’t just magically appear due to stress, but it’s the result of how we deal with a busy life.
Relying on Junk Food
Let’s face it, the last thing you want to do after a long and stressful day at work is to get home and start preparing food. You just want to grab a fork and start digging into a meal, so we rely on horrible microwave meals, fast food and other junk just to sustain ourselves. It’s understandable especially when junk food is so cheap nowadays, but it’s probably the leading cause to gaining weight when you live a busy life. Stop relying on cheap and nasty food and instead, muster up the courage to cook yourself meals or switch to food prep. You only need to cook once or twice a week (probably on the weekends) and you can easily measure all the nutrients you get. In short, cut the junk food and you’ll shed pounds.
Quick Options to Get Back on Track
If you’ve just been through a stressful period or you’ve had something come up that made you put on excess weight, then you might need a quick way to lose extra weight to get your weight back on track. There are a lot of fast weight loss options, but one of the natural ways to do it (assuming you have the mental strength and discipline) is to put yourself on a very low-calorie diet. These diets typically have you consume fewer than 800 calories per day, with each meal being around 200-300 calories depending on the time of day. You might also need to take vitamins and minerals along with your meals to get your recommended amount. It’s not easy, but it’s definitely a quick option to get back on track after a stressful period.
Introducing Small Changes
Sustainability is the name of the game in weight loss. As long as you consume less calories than you burn (honestly not that hard unless you binge eat) then you’re set. Keep in mind that everything you do, be it moving around, typing at the computer or simply just existing, burns calories. A great way to check how much you actually eat is to track them with a smartphone app. Other small changes include taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walking to the shops instead of driving, or going out more with your friends. The more active you are, the better your chances of losing weight.
Make Time for the Gym
People say that weight loss doesn’t require exercise and they’re right because it’s all about managing your calories. But staying healthy and motivating yourself to get back into the gym is going to help you stay focused and keep on track. Hire a personal trainer, make some gym friends, or go and workout with a work colleague or friend. The more motivation you have on your side, the easier it will be to lose weight.
