So from the moment that you start hating living under your parents roof, you will have started to dream about your own home. How you can waltz around doing whatever you want, walk in and out without having to say where you’re going, and just to be free from the grasps of your prying parents. You then went through the absolute stress of trying to pull enough money together to actually move out, and deciding what home is going to be the perfect one for you.

Once you settled in, you were sure that it would be the end of all of your nightmares, and that you would easily adjust to home life, loving every single minute of it. But we all know that it isn’t true, and that our homes love to throw in a little bit of a headache, just when we thought we couldn’t have any more in our lives. Unlike with work, the home is not something you can escape for a few hours of the day. The problem at hand is always going to be there, and it’s hard to switch your mind off from it, even when you’re sat at work dealing with more problems. But we say enough is enough.

Our homes should be something we’re really enjoying and making the most of, and there’s plenty of ways that it can be done. But first you have to start with eliminating some of the biggest headaches. So we’ve come up with a few that you might be suffering with, in the hope that all of you can at least relate to one!

Terrible Neighbours

Terrible neighbours really are a thing, and some of you are either living this nightmare every single day, or you’re blessed with neighbours that leave you alone, and perhaps give you a little wave and a smile each time you’re leaving the house at the same time. But for all of you who are suffering with terrible neighbours, you’ll know how easy it is to lose your mind with stress over it, especially if they’re terrible because they’re aggravating a situation. In certain cases, it can even get a little bit nasty as time goes on!

One situation that we want to touch on, because we know that it’s actually more common than you might think, is land ownership. If you have a nice house with a bit of land at the back of it, then you really are blessed. Some people consider themselves lucky to have a little bit of grass in the garden. And all might have been well, until someone moved in next door, or even built next door, and tries to claim some of the land as theirs. And then before you know it you’ve got this big dispute going on that could seriously turn nasty. A boundary dispute solicitor is the person you should contact sooner rather than later, because the longer it goes on, the more damage that could be done. There are so many other ways that you could be dealing with terrible neighbours, and unless you’re thinking about moving out anytime soon, you really do need to nip it in the bud, even if it means you being the bigger person and apologising, or attempting to reconcile.

Bills That Keep On Growing

So, from something only some of you will be able to relate to, to something that all of you can no doubt relate to. Bills just seem to keep on growing year on year, and that’s because the energy suppliers and water suppliers seem to be putting their prices up year on year. But are they the only ones at fault? Probably not. We’re so bad for overusing our energy and water without even realising how much it’s going to cost us at the end of the month. So the simple solution to all of this, is getting yourself a smart meter that measures it for you. At least then you can see when you’re using more energy, how much it’s going up by when you do, and perhaps how to control it. When you have real time information, it’s far easier to be more careful! Mortgages are another big problem.

A lot of people are being stung with rising mortgage rates, so it might be worth considering getting your rate locked in. It usually lasts for around five years, the only downfall being you’ll miss out if the prices drop. But with the way that the economy is going in so many different countries, it’s most likely going to be on the rise for a while. Talking to a mortgage advisor is a great way of understanding whether this is what you need.

Boredom That Keeps On Growing

It’s so easy to get bored with your home. If all you’re ever doing is coming home to clean it, pay the bills, and sit in front of the TV all night. So if you feel like your boredom just keeps on growing, we’ve got two great options for you. The first is to start your own project around the home. Think along the lines of upcycling something big that was ready for the out.

Not only can this be super therapeutic, but it means you’re not wasting your days in front of the TV or pushing the hoover around! Now that summer is here, you could start thinking about enjoying the garden more as well, because we don’t feel like the garden is used as much as it should be. If you don’t feel like it’s the place for you to hang out, then make it. Get yourself some nice furniture, plant some plants to make it all colourful, and just relax in the outdoors! It’s so much better than being cooped up indoors all of the time.

So we hope that over time, your home nightmares dwindle down a little. If you are struggling with anything we’ve mentioned today, we hope that it dies down as well if you take onboard the advice we’ve given!
