Why Would You Need a Head Start?

I have quite a few blogs now. I know that I only ever talk about this and Chiino.co.uk on here, but the truth is that I have a fair few that cover a fair few different niches. The reason why I have so many blogs that cover so many different niches is because there is money to be made by simply owning such platforms. By investing just a little time in getting things going, you have a means to generate revenue by attracting traffic, advertisers and commission-triggering clicks.

I went through a few stages with my life as a blogger, from my days operating exclusively as a guest blogger on other people's platforms, to now owning a multitude of my own. What I can now tell you is that if I'm ever going to create a brand new blog, I'm definitely going to use a little assistance to get started. 

Starting from scratch just doesn't appeal in the way that it once did. I like having wholly original ideas, and the idea of anybody looking at something I created as a knock-off of anybody else's actually repulses me, but there are still ways to use other people's content/framework/ideas to repurpose it in all new ways that look, feel and actually are original. 

Whether you're new to the blogging world or you've already had your foot in for a while, consider a little help when you create your next slice of online real estate. When my friend Debz said that she started a second blog, I told her it made so much more sense to consider all of these things before she goes any further with it.

These are the ways you can get a quick head start with a new blog:

1. Remake an Old Blog

Ever heard of ExpiredDomains.net? It's the best site of its kind; showcasing all of the domains which were owned once upon a time, and are now available for you to register. Using free tools like Archive.org, you can go through the content that was previously found there to recreate an old blog, and make it yours from there. 

None of that old content would be in use any more, so feel free to use it as your own, and then continue with all of the new content that you make for it from there. The old content may allow you to get a foot-in on organic search rankings far sooner than if you were to do it from a brand new domain. 

This is a massive time-saver, as you can quickly populate your site with masses of content, hopefully helping you to boost your traffic from the get-go and find ways to monetise it. If you are going to do this, remember to edit your old content; optimise it for Google and monetisation to maximise its potential.

 

2. Redirect a High Authority Domain

Linked to the last one, you can give a new domain an instant authority boost by purchasing a domain with existing backlinks. If you don't know much about backlinks, it's essential that you do your digging, as these are fundamental to your understanding of how to thoroughly monetise your website. 

The process is most likely going to be a little different in this instance. ExpiredDomains.net lists all expired domains, but other tools are better at showing you what’s about to appear on there. For soon to expire domains, you want to head to GoDaddy's Auctions, DropCatch and other marketplaces for domains that are dropping from their registrant's ownership. These platforms give you the chance to backorder or bid on domains, so that you can acquire them the moment they become available to reregister. 

There is plenty of competition to get ones with existing, authoritative backlinks, so you need to familiarise yourself with expiring domain auctions to stand your best chance at getting your hands on these kinds of domains

3. Buy an Existing Blog

There are blogs out there ready for you to buy right now. Right this very instant. A load of them are sitting on Flippa.com or the suitably named BlogsForSale.co. The rest will take you a lot more digging to discover. Either way, there's plenty of blogs out there that you can take control over. It's just down to you to find a project that you're willing to take on and seize the opportunity. 

By browsing through either site for a few weeks, you will get an understanding of the kind of money you should expect to have to pay for a decent quality domain with unique content, which is ranking for a fair few significant keywords, and has traffic through organic means. 

What Next?

Decide what path is best for you, and do it. No more waiting around. Managing multiple sites is a different conversation for another time, but just be aware that there are so many ways that you are able to get assistance for cheap. By getting a head start, you will be able to afford some of the expenses that may come along. 

Always consider what your objectives are. If you're trying to generate income with minimal input, you may want to invest more heavily on this head start foundation, as it will usually mean that you need to do far less on a day-to-day basis.
